I recently tried installing AMD StoreMI on my Windows 2022 server. Big mistake — it immediately failed to boot with a BSOD. And this was just after installing — I hadn’t even run the program. So the first lesson is not to trust AMD’s software — absolutely shocking!

Comparaison des performances du GPU madvr
My current HTPC has an nVidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4Gb with which I am able to upscale all content to 1080p with fairly high quality settings, et je suis aussi (juste) able to playback 8k 60fps content downscaled to 1080p. However, I have long wondered what the benefits of a more powerful card might be on the ability to use higher settings. Tristement, no-one seems to provide any benchmarks for madvr, alors comment comparer les cartes?

Fixing stability issues with Asus E35M1‑M Pro
La base de mon principal HTPC is an AMD E350 Brazos in the form of an Asus E35M1‑M Pro. I had quite a lot of problems with the system when I first built it, which were caused by issues with the Seagate Momentus XT storage drive I used. These were fixed a good while ago via firmware update from Seagate, and since then the system has largely worked without any issue.… Lire l'article complet

Fixé: AMD accidents de la E350 & invalide erreur de périphérique de démarrage
I’ve had an AMD E350 system for over a year, que je utilise comme mon primaire HTPC. However, in that time I’ve always had ocasional Stability issues where the system would lock up, redémarrage, et ne parviennent pas à trouver le primaire HDD. Au début, je mets cela sur le HDD — a Seagate Momentus XT, which was known to be unreliable when it was first released. Since Seagate released update firmware however the drive has seemed to operate fine, although I couldn’t rule it out. Je ai aussi mis à jour le BIOS of my Asus E35M1‑M Pro and updated all the drivers I could find, without fully resolving the issue.

BrazosTweaker: AMD Brazos E350 tweaker
As regular readers will know, mon principal HTPC is currently based on an AMD Brazos E350. I’d like to say a quick thanks to SemiAccurate for their recent article highlighting the excellent BrazosTweaker by Sven Wittek. This tool (and its sibling FusionTweaker) enable the tweaking of P‑States (la tension en mode de faible puissance) de Brazos et Llano puces, juste comme K10Stat, PhenomMsrTweaker, RMClock, CrystalCPUID and others have done in the past. To quote SemiAccurate, “the main purpose of both these tools is to modify the voltages and clock dividers of the built-in P‑States on these chips.”
The FusionTweaker utility is still somewhat buggy by all reports, but BrazosTweaker seems reliable to me. I highly recommend reading theSemiAccurate article and then grabbing the tool if you have a Brazos HTPC, ou ordinateur portable.

Problems with Catalyst Mobility — Fixed
I own a Dell Studio 1557 ordinateur portable avec un processeur AMD (anciennement ATI) Mobility Radeon 4570. Whilst Dell provide a driver, they don’t keep up-to-date with AMD’s monthly release cycle so in the past I have installed newer versions from AMD directly.

Installation des pilotes d'ATI Mobility Radeon
Mettre à jour: Catalyst Mobility drivers are now available for many cards from ATi. (as of Catalyst version 10.3)
It seems to be very difficult to obtain reasonably up-to-date drivers for the ATi graphics chips in many laptops. En effet, le OEM have asked ATi not to provide generic drivers direct to the end user, ostensibly to reduce support requests from users with drivers not tested by the OEM’s. This seems perfectly reasonable, mais la triste réalité est plus OEM’s only update the drivers for a new laptop model a few times and soon abandon it as they concentrate on the next generation release. For those people trying to update their drivers to address a problem or to gain access to new features there are no clear options. Fortunately there are ways around this problem.

Old K7S6A mère Mod
Bien, so this tip wont prove useful to many people, but as the original site seems to have disappeared I’m posting it to keep it alive.
If you have an Élite Group (ECS) K7S6A motherboard for AMD Socket A and you want to upgrade to a “Thoroughbred” Athlon XP Processor it is possible by removing a single small component from the motherboard.
