What a horrible title that is, but I didn’t know how else to describe this. Since switching from Media Center to Kodi I’ve mostly been very pleased, but a few small niggles have remained where for some reason Kodi just doesn’t default to “nice” behaviour in the same way that Media Center did. I long ago managed to get the “Live TV” link from the main menu to point to the guide view instead of a channel list, but once a channel is being displayed I couldn’t find a neat way to describe a mini-guide like Media Center would do.
I have finally found a solution to this, via a custom keymap file. The kodi mini guide isn’t as nice as in Media Center, but it’s much better than nothing.
<keymap> <FullscreenLiveTV> <remote> <omhoog>ActivateWindow(pvrosdchannels)</omhoog> <down>ActivateWindow(pvrosdchannels)</down> </remote> <keyboard> <omhoog>ActivateWindow(pvrosdchannels)</omhoog> <down>ActivateWindow(pvrosdchannels)</down> </keyboard> </FullscreenLiveTV> </keymap>
“Hi James I realise it has been a long while, but I just checked this on windows 11 (build 23H2)…”
