I’ve recently been working on an update/overhaul of both my various websites and the server backend. As part of this process I’ve been trying ot make sure everything is using the latest standards to maximise performance and compatability. One of the best features of recent versions of wordpress is the native support for responsive images — where the imgset=”” attribut eis used to supply alternative sizes of images in a group so the browser can use the most appropriate. In combination with async loading and lazy loading this can make pages load far faster whilst still looking good to all visitors. However css has not adopted these newer features so background images are much trickier to deal with. It can be done though…

0HTML5 رپورٹ ختم اور شائع!
طویل آخر, the W3C has published the final HTML5 specification. DIY Media Home is already written coded in HTML5, but the finalisation of the specification means that HTML5 compliance is no longer a moving target for either us, or the browser makers. Hopefully all the main players will provide fully HTML5 compliant browsers soon. In the meantime we’ll be working to ensure our site is fully compliant with the final spec.

I was asked recently if I could copy a teaching resource from a سی ڈی-ROM onto a laptop computer. This particular program is mostly ایچ ٹی ایم ایل with some embedded videos. وہاں تھے 2 problems with running it from a local shortcut.
1. Internet Explorer security warnings
2. The full-screen window is launched by a parent browser window which then sits on top of the full screen window and has to be closed when the full screen window is exited
Both of these are only annoyances rather than critical failures, but a complete solution involves fixing these kind of things. Finding a solution was a little tricky, but once the solution presented itself it was very simple.
